Safety valves
A safety valve (or relief valve) is a valve that opens automatically against a weight or a preloaded spring, preventing a dangerous rise of internal pressure in a space (pressure vessel, boiler, pipeline).
It helps prevent undesired operating conditions in pipelines and equipment that would endanger the function and integrity of the pipeline and/or equipment, or the controllability of the process.

Safety valves – product group overview
The function of safety valves is to provide a bypass at a given pressure through which overpressure can be released from the pipe system/equipment and excess medium can escape.
Depending on the design, they may discharge to atmosphere or into a bypass pipeline.
Connections can be flanged (to EN or ANSI standards) or threaded (G-NPT-BSPT).
