Sight glasses – product group overview

A sight glass is a pipeline fitting used to check and observe the flow in a pipeline, also known as a flow indicator.

In its basic design it is manufactured with a vortex generator, and the flow becomes visible through the refraction caused by the vortex. If this is not sufficient, versions with a flap (indicator flag) or rotor (paddle wheel) are also available.

Body materials can be grey cast iron, steel or stainless steel; the glass can be soda-lime (up to max. 16 bar) or borosilicate.

This group also includes observation devices in the condensate lines of steam pipelines (vaposcopes).
