Expansion joints
Expansion joints are used where changes in pipeline systems must be absorbed safely.
These changes may include thermal expansion and contraction, vibrations caused by rotating machinery, pressure, deformation, and misalignment arising during equipment installation.
The main structural element of an expansion joint is the bellows. The bellows consists of a series of convolutions designed to withstand the internal system pressure while being flexible enough to compensate for axial movements, lateral offsets and angular deflections.

Movement absorption

For the above movements, our expansion joints
• fixed flange
• loose flange
• butt-weld
connections are available, and custom designs can also be requested to meet customer requirements.
Piping design
BELMAN's extensive know-how combined with Rohr2 software enables customers to design pipelines and to position expansion joints optimally along pipe sections.
All this is based on comprehensive pipe system analysis, calculation and modelling. The design study prepared for the customer includes piping drawings, descriptions, expert opinions, as well as the selection, technical specification and optimal positioning of the expansion joints designed into the system.

Fabric expansion joints

Fabric expansion joints are flexible elements that can absorb axial, lateral and angular movements in pipe systems simultaneously. Suitable designs can also absorb vibrations and torsion.
The design and manufacture of fabric expansion joints is a complex process that requires detailed information about the application, the operating environment and the size of the systems or pipelines.
Fabric expansion joints can be single-layer or multi-layer, depending on application requirements.
