Butterfly valves
A butterfly valve is a fitting used to regulate, but mainly to shut off and open, the flow of fluid in a pipeline. In this design, the flow is changed by a closing element (disc) that rotates within the flow cross-section. When fully open, the disc is parallel to the direction of flow. The disc is turned by a hand lever on smaller nominal diameters and by a manual gearbox on larger ones. It can also be operated by an electric or pneumatic actuator.
